How very stupid of us
living, each alone, as if
the other had died.
As if our time, itself so brief,
had altogether ended
and were no more sea
mountains no more,
neither storm exuberant
rainforest wind
radiant sun or clouds,
neither smile nor voice.
How stupid the two of us
being alive and well
but acting as if
we were both dead ...
each the widow/widower of the other.
